Fixmart Packaging - Reducing Environmental Impact
Fixmart has signed up to Carbon Offsetting to mitigate the carbon footprint of the packaging we consume.
This works through Carbon Balancing which is where the carbon impact of a product or service such as our packaging is estimated and an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide is either prevented from being released into the atmosphere, or is absorbed from the atmosphere.
Carbon Balancing is facilitated by the World Land Trust, a conservation charity, through the preservation of high conservation value forests in the UK. They do important work by purchasing the land of ecologically important standing forests which are due for clearance.
Carbon Balancing compensates the environmental impact of our packaging as for every tonne used, one tonne of CO₂ will be captured in new UK woodlands, certified under the government ’Woodland Carbon Code'. You can read more about this here.
Being a part of the scheme has enabled the capture of 7333 kilogrammes of CO2e from October to December 2019 and allowed Forest Carbon to plant 30 trees, creating a new woodland area of 184m² at Lone Tree Thrimby, Penrith, England. View our Woodland Carbon Capture Certificate.
We used over 11 tonnes of packaging in 2019, so it's great to be involved in a scheme which helps us offset the impact on the environment.
