Sikla siFramo - The Lightweight Yet Strong Framing Solution
siFramo Modular Steel by Sikla is a lightweight framing system that is a great alternative to traditional welded steel structural sections.
If you’re installing pipework or sections of cable containment and want a framing solution that’s easy to handle, saves time, reduces labour, eliminates the need for any hot works and can be easily altered? Then Sikla siFramo might just be the support system you've been looking for!
What is Sikla siFramo?
Around 16 years ago, Sikla siFramo was introduced as a unique substitute to welded secondary steel to create strong volumetric support systems which could support pipework and cable containment.
Essentially siFramo is made up of high torsion resistance 80 x 80 beam sections along with end sections / base supports and other accessories, each with specifically designed pre-drilled holes to allow for easy connection using self-forming screws. Their secret is a combination of a specific corrugation geometry with a premium steel grade resulting in an extremely stiff structure. Each component also has a high corrosion protection finish to allow for use in corrosive environments.
The versatile nature of the Sikla siFramo system allows installers to easily bolt the individual components together, whilst offering the versatility to easily adapt to any required changes in design due to demands on site.
Sikla siFramo has advantages over traditional alternatives such as welded steel structural sections or lengths of 41x41 channel (Unistrut). Framo siFramo is 50% lighter than steel structural sections yet able to support installations beyond the load capacity of channel, as it’s significantly stronger.
Benefits Sikla siFramo
There are several notable advantages to this framing system, making it a good alternative to traditional framing systems. Most noteworthy, however, is the significant weight savings that siFramo beams provide by being up to 50% lighter than traditional steel structural sections. This allows a single person to load and install beams, bracketry, and fixings, which reduces installation times, helps meet deadlines, saves on labour costs and lessens the number of resources needed.
Advantages of using Sikla siFramo:
- 50% lighter than traditional steel sections
- Easily create frame configurations that are the equivalent to engineered solutions
- Adjustments can be made easily on site, if requirements change
- Frames can be dismantled and re-used, helping to eliminate waste
- No need for Hot Works
- Quicker to cut as although strong the sections are made from thin gauge steel
- One type of re-useable screw for all connections
- EN 1090-1 Compliant Products and Production Control
Sikla siFramo uses less steel
In a time where we face a crisis in the sourcing of certain materials including steel due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. The supply and demand of steel distributors have seen a dramatic level of uncertainty, with key suppliers to the market raising prices across the board. Crucially, this has knock on effects towards the companies we aim to support. To help combat these issues, we continue to look for potential alternatives that may provide a solution to our customers during these challenging times. As we work closely with a lot of MEP contractors, we wanted to highlight the Sikla siFramo framing system as a potential option that uses far less steel than traditional methods.
