Hand Protection
EN 388 is the standard that determines a glove’s performance such as protection against abrasion, blade cut, tear, puncture and where relevant impact. A new version of this standard was published in November 2016 (EN 388:2016). Gloves that are EN 388:2003 rated will still be valid up to 2023, however over the next year or so many manufacturers will start the process of transitioning their gloves to the new standards. For example, cut protection will use a new more accurate test, with cut levels switching from 1-5 to A-F.
