Anchor fixings can be broadly divided into wedge anchors, through bolt anchors, shield anchors, and sleeve anchors. There are also anchor bolts and resin anchor system which uses resin capsules combined with stud bolts to offer a high load ideal for safety-critical overhead installations. Resin anchors can be used with wet/cracked concrete or when placing fixings close to each other or an edge. As many other anchors expand when being fixed (expansion anchors) in order to provide a secure anchor point, they aren’t always suitable for such applications.
